Medical Reserve Corps

The Medical Reserve Corps provides opportunities for community volunteers to help prepare for and respond to emergencies. It brings together people from all backgrounds to assist during disasters, as well as to address other public health needs as needed.

DeKalb County’s Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is part of a nation-wide program that was created after 9/11/21. The national MRC office is housed in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response.

Why volunteer?

Each of us can play an important role in emergency preparedness and response. MRC volunteers provide help in coping with disasters in our community. Also, they may be called on to assist with other public health efforts. Volunteers receive training in many areas, including incident management, medical support and help center operations.
