Funeral Homes – Death Filings

The Georgia Vital Events Registration System (GAVERS) is the vital records registration and issuance software that was developed for the Georgia Department of Public Health, Vital Records Unit, by Genesis Systems, Inc.

GAVERS is ready for immediate use by funeral homes and certifying physicians. It allows input of death information electronically, eliminating the need for paper certificates. Certificates are now completed with more efficiency and accuracy.

Paper copies are no longer needed.

The funeral home completes the demographic information for the decedent in GAVERS and GAVERS will electronically alert the certifying physician that a certificate is ready for completion and verification.

The physician (or designated staff) will enter the cause of death, complete additional requirements through a series of drop-down fields, and electronically verify the record.

Once completed, the funeral home representative may obtain a copy of the certified death registration by completing a request form and submitting it to the DeKalb County Vital Records Office. Ordering of completed certificates may be done in person in our office or through the website with payment via PayPal.

GAVERS TRAINING

You must register with the State Office of Vital Records to access GAVERS. Training is periodically held onsite at the DeKalb County Vital Records Office; please contact us if you are interested in our next session.
