Swimmer Health and Safety

Tips for all swimmers

  • Upon entering the pool area, locate the first aid kit and safety equipment in case it’s needed.
  • Be sure the deck is in good repair and free of obstructions and debris.
  • Do not engage in boisterous activity or “horseplay” near the pool.
  • Before entering the pool, rinse your body off to help keep the pool water clean.
  • Use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher and both ultraviolet (UV) A and B protection. Re-apply after swimming.
  • Don’t swallow pool water or get it in your mouth.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water after using the toilet.
  • Don’t enter the pool if you have diarrhea.

Tips for parents

  • Keep an eye on children 17 years old and younger at all times.
  • Make sure children wear life jackets. Don’t use air-filled swimming aids (like “water wings”) as life jackets.
  • Change diapers in the restroom, not at the poolside. Wash your hands with soap and water after a diaper change.
  • Take children for frequent bathroom breaks. Don’t wait for them to tell you they have to go.

AIR QUALITY UPDATE

Current weather models show that winds will begin to shift
from the east to the west after sunset on Wednesday.

Smoke from the BioLab facility fire in Rockdale County is predicted to settle towards the ground as it moves toward Atlanta. There is a high likelihood that people across Metro Atlanta will wake up on Thursday morning seeing haze and smelling chlorine.
