Risk Assessments for Small, Independent Food Service Establishments
We offer free risk assessments for small, independent food service establishments. An assessment is not an inspection, but a tool to help the operator ensure food safety.
The risk assessor will visit the establishment to monitor the operations and note possible problems. This is to help the operator identify risk factors that can cause a foodborne illness.
The most common risk factors are:
- Improper food holding and cooking temperatures
- Foods from unsafe sources
- Cross contamination
- Poor personal hygiene
The assessor will next help the operator develop an action plan to prevent the reoccurrence of risk factors. The operator is responsible for implementing the plan.
