The Swimming Pool, Beach and Spa Program does not inspect privately owned residential pools located at single-family homes. They do review plans for new construction so that any safety or health concerns can be addressed before a pool is built. The program also responds to reports of health concerns or problems at public or private pools.

During plan reviews for residential pools, program staff checks for proper fencing that includes a self-closing gate. They also make sure that the proposed pool site will not interfere with any nearby septic systems.
