Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System

Since 1984, the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) has been an ongoing yearly telephone survey to collect information about health risk behaviors, health conditions and use of health care services among adults in the United States.  It is conducted in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.  Federal, state, and local health officials and researchers use this information to examine health risks, identify emerging problems, prevent disease, and improve treatment.  The DeKalb County BRFSS provides health information specific to adults age 18 years and over in DeKalb County.
